Editorial policy
Everything in the PlantMe Journal is created by the PlantMe editorial team. This page explains how articles are put together, where the horticultural detail comes from, and what our dates mean.
How articles are produced
Each article is written by the editorial team around a single practical question — when to plant something, why a leaf looks wrong, how to keep a plant alive indoors. We draw on established horticultural references: the Royal Horticultural Society, botanical gardens, and university extension services, along with standard horticultural literature. Where an article cites a specific source, it is listed at the end under "Sources & further reading".
Articles without a sources list have not yet been through that citation pass. We are adding references article by article as each one is re-checked, rather than attaching sources retrospectively to text they did not inform.
Dates and updates
Every article shows its publish date. An update date appears only when the content itself has genuinely changed — we never backdate, and we never refresh a date to make an article look newer than it is.
Localization
German, French, Brazilian Portuguese and Japanese versions are adaptations, not machine translations of the English text. Timings, seasons and plant availability are rewritten for the local climate — Brazilian articles follow Southern Hemisphere seasons, and Japanese articles account for the rainy season.
Corrections
Gardening advice goes out of date and mistakes happen. If something here is wrong, unclear or no longer true, tell us through the support link on the PlantMe App Store listing and we will check it. When a correction changes the content, the article's update date changes with it.
