Echeveria
Echeveria spp.
Echeverias are the classic rosette succulents — compact, colourful, and ideal for a sunny windowsill.
They need more direct sun than most houseplants and gritty, fast-draining soil. In good light their leaves develop pink, purple, or silvery blush tones.
Common problems
Stretched, pale rosette
Not enough light. Move to the brightest window you have.

Questions, answered
How much sun does an echeveria need?+
At least 4–6 hours of direct light per day for compact, colourful growth.
How do you propagate echeveria?+
Twist off a healthy leaf, let it callous for a few days, and lay it on dry soil until roots and a pup form.
Why is my echeveria stretching?+
It is reaching for more light. Move it to a sunnier spot and consider a grow light in winter.
